Canyon Lake resident and local business owner Monica Lyons was presented with the Outstanding Community Service Award at the 35th Annual Western Riverside Council of Governments (WRCOG) General Assembly & Leadership Address on June 17. She is the first Canyon Lake resident to receive the award.
The sold-out event brought together nearly 1,000 regional leaders, partners, changemakers, and community members to the Pechanga Resort Casino for an evening of networking, reflection, and regional connection.
“Community service has always been at the heart of everything my family and I do,” Lyons said. “Through the Lyons Den Spa, Yard Fresh Pet Waste Management Services, and our ongoing community efforts, we have been blessed with opportunities to give back, support local causes, organize donation drives, and serve the community that has given so much to us. Thank you to WRCOG, the City of Canyon Lake, and everyone who has supported us along this journey. Your encouragement, partnership, and belief in our mission have made all the difference.”
In addition to her recent award, Lyons was recognized by the Canyon Lake Property Owners Association as its April Member of the Month. In January, the City of Canyon Lake honored her as Citizen of the Month.
For four consecutive years, Lyons has held a blanket drive benefitting Animal Friends of the Valleys. The drive has collected more than 500 blankets, toys, dog beds, and other items for local shelter animals.
In honor of her spa’s first anniversary, Lyons held a clothing drive benefiting a local women’s shelter. She also played a key role in supporting the City of Canyon Lake’s annual Turkey Drive, helping the community collect nearly 400 turkeys for families during the holiday season.
A Canyon Lake resident since 2019, Lyons’s efforts have made her a cornerstone of compassion and service in her community. From organizing record-breaking community drives to leveraging her businesses for charitable impact, she has created a legacy of kindness that positively touches hundreds of lives.
