The Riverside County Sheriff’s Moreno Valley Station will be conducting a DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint on Friday, June 12, from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. at an undisclosed location within city limits. Checkpoint locations are selected based on areas with a history of DUI crashes and arrests.
During the checkpoint, deputies will look for signs that drivers are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. The department encourages residents to drive responsibly and to always have a designated driver or use alternative transportation if consuming alcohol or impairing substances.
“Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” Deputy Rafael Lomeli said. “Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improve traffic safety.”
Drivers charged with DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
