Motorcyclist critically injured in crash in Menifee

A motorcyclist is in critical condition after striking the rear end of a vehicle, the Menifee Police Department announced today.

On Thursday at about 11:36 p.m., officers responded to a report of a traffic collision on Newport Road and Stater Way involving a Toyota sedan and a Harley Davidson motorcycle. Officers located a downed motorcycle and rider in the westbound lanes and a Toyota stopped in the eastbound turn lane.

The motorcyclist sustained severe injuries and was listed in critical condition. The driver of the Toyota sustained minor injuries. Both parties were transported to a local hospital.

According to the Menifee Police Department, officers determined both the Toyota and the Harley Davidson were traveling eastbound on Newport Road when the Harley Davidson struck the rear end of the Toyota. “At this time, alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision; however, the exact cause of the collision is still under investigation,” the department said.

Anyone who witnessed this accident is asked to contact Officer Norwood at 951-723-1612, or the Traffic Unit at 951-723-1690.
