On June 16, Mt. San Jacinto College’s Board of Trustees along with members of the Menifee City Council broke ground on a new state-of-the-art Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) building at the Menifee Valley campus.
The $49.7 million STEM building is expected to open in 2024. The 41,865-square-foot, two-story facility will feature laboratory and multi-use, computer-based instructional areas. The ability to provide distance learning will also be designed into all of the multi-use instructional spaces.
The project will be funded by MSJC’s voter-approved Measure AA facilities bond and the state’s Prop. 51, which state voters passed in 2016 to assist community colleges.
“This project will truly have a lasting impact on our students, some of whom will be the STEM leaders of tomorrow,” Dr. Roger Schultz, MSJC superintendent/president, said in a statement. “We have a lot happening right now at the Menifee Valley Campus and we cannot wait to celebrate the opening of this and our new Kinesiology and Athletics Complex with the community. This is an exciting time at MSJC.”
