In honor of the life and service of Riverside County Deputy Darnell Calhoun, the City of Murrieta invites the community to come together for a candlelight vigil on Wednesday, January 18, at 5:30 p.m. at the Town Square Park Amphitheater, 11 Town Square Park.

Deputy Culhaun, 30, was fatally shot while responding to a call on Friday, January 13, in the 18500 block of Hilldale Lane in the unincorporated area of Lakeland Village.

The candlelight vigil is a way to show our community’s gratitude for Deputy Calhoun’s service and support for his loved ones, including his parents, who are the owners of Murrieta restaurant Calhoun’s Texas Family Barbeque.

A limited number of candles will be provided. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own candles.

Parking will be available at Murrieta City Hall, the Murrieta Public Library, Murrieta Senior Center, and Community Center. Seating is limited. Guests are welcome to bring chairs if needed.
