During a fundraiser in January, Murrieta firefighters successfully raised more than $20,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS).
Held at the Albertsons Shopping Center on California Oaks Road, firefighters in full protective gear took turns climbing a stair machine throughout the day, symbolizing their dedication to “climbing for a cure.”
In March, ten Murrieta firefighters will travel to Seattle to compete in the LLS Firefighter Stairclimb—a grueling 69-flight challenge. This year’s climb carries special significance as they honor Captain Chanley, a 24-year veteran of Murrieta Fire who is fighting Multiple Myeloma. Now in its 34th year, the LLS Firefighter Stairclimb has raised more than $25 million for blood cancer research.
