
A 38-year-old Bellflower man was arrested on Friday on suspicion of murder and driving under the influence causing injury.
The collision occurred shortly before 7 p.m. at the intersection of Rancho California Road and Riesling Court in the City of Temecula. Deputies arrived to find three vehicles significantly damaged.
A pedestrian, later identified as 39-year-old David Heard of Murrieta, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two passengers from one of the vehicles were transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
During the investigation, deputies determined one of the drivers, identified as 38-year-old Jonathan Ruiz of Bellflower, was under the influence of alcohol. Ruiz was taken into custody without incident and booked on suspicion of murder and driving under the influence causing injury.
