
A Murrieta resident suspected of nine robberies was taken into custody on Monday following a joint investigation by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Lake Elsinore Station and the Murrieta Police Department.
The robberies occurred between December 2019 and March 2020 at convenience stores in the cities of Lake Elsinore, Wildomar, and Murrieta. The suspect brandished a handgun in each robbery, according to Sergeant Julio Olguin.
On January 4, Christopher May, 47, was arrested and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center on charges of second-degree robbery and suspicion of using a firearm in the commission of a crime. A search warrant served at May’s residence resulted in the recovery of evidence related to the robberies, the sheriff’s department reported.
May was release the next day on $375,000 bail and is due in court May 13, jail records show.
