Murrieta officers issue 39 citations during DUI Checkpoint

The Murrieta Police Department conducted a DUI and Driver’s License Checkpoint on Friday, August 21, in the eastbound lanes of Murrieta Hot Springs Road at Whitewood Road.

The checkpoint operated from 6 p.m. to 12:15 p.m. with officers screening 1,151 vehicles. Fifty-two vehicles were directed to secondary screening for license issues.

Officers conducted eight sobriety evaluations. Sixteen citations were issued for driving without a license, and one arrest was made for an outstanding DUI warrant.

Officers issued 23 citations as a result of proactive traffic enforcement during the DUI checkpoint.

This checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
