In response to community concerns regarding a recent increase in speeding along Washington Avenue, the Murrieta Police Department Traffic Bureau conducted traffic enforcement on Monday, January 29, from 4 to 10 p.m.
Conducted along Washington Avenue between Kalmia Street and Calle Del Oso Oro, seven motor officers worked the corridor focusing on Primary Collision Factor violations, which are responsible for most collisions in the city.
Traffic officers conducted 71 traffic stops during the operation. Officers issued 39 citations for seeding, 11 citations for talking/using a cell phone, one citation for running a traffic light, two citations for running a stop sign, and nine miscellaneous citations. Nine warnings were given.
