
A golf cart accident on New Year’s Day on Canyon Lake’s main causeway sent four minors to the hospital.

Emergency responders, including the Canyon Lake Fire Department, Cal Fire Engine 94, AMR, and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, were dispatched to the scene around 1:30 p.m.
According to witness David Stites, who was the first person on the scene, the golf cart was traveling down the causeway when it abruptly veered sharply to the left. Stites said the golf cart crossed the roadway, struck the curb, and collided with a tree before flipping over. The impact caused significant damage to the golf cart and left all four occupants injured.
Two male and two female minors were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, according to Canyon Lake Fire Chief Jeff LaTendresse.
The causeway was temporarily closed. Canyon Lake Community Patrol assisting with traffic control.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
