Canyon Lake veterans and first responders are invited to join the newly formed Canyon Lake Veterans and First Responders support group.

The group was formed in July by five Canyon Lake residents who wanted to offer support and comradery to the men and women in their community who have or had careers in the same field.

“We don’t want to see another veteran or first responder commit suicide because they don’t have an outlet or someone to talk to,” said co-founder Joseph John. “We are here to provide support, whether it’s for emotional or physical support or a need for assistance.”

The group meets on the second and fourth Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the picnic tables at Holiday Harbor Park. Canyon Lake veterans and first responders are welcome to bring their beverages and enjoy the comradery.

The group plans to participate in the city’s upcoming Veterans Day parade and welcomes fellow first responders and veterans to join them.
