One arrested, eight cited during Temecula DUI Checkpoint

Deputies screened 1304 vehicles during a DUI Checkpoint on Friday, August 29, in the City of Temecula. The checkpoint was held from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Margarita Road and Verdes Lane.

The operation resulted in one arrest for DUI and eight citations. Seven unlicensed drivers were cited. One vehicle was towed.

DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on data showing incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the road.

Funding for this checkpoint is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
