A traffic accident that occurred on the 4th of July in the City of Canyon Lake led to one driver being arrested for driving under the influence and several individuals being transported to the hospital.
At about 9:46 p.m., Lake Elsinore Station deputies responded to a major traffic collision near the intersection of Canyon Lake Drive and Blue Teal Drive.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, a female driver traveling at a high rate of speed west on Canyon Lake Drive collided with a vehicle driven by a male driver waiting to turn onto Canyon Club Dr.

“Due to her excessive speed,” the department said, “after the collision she continued westbound and struck two parked cars and an Edison electrical box, causing a power outage.”
The Canyon Lake Fire Department provided medical assistance on the scene. The female driver and her four passengers, including three minor children, were transported to Inland Valley Medical Center for medical evaluations and were later released, the department said.
The male driver sustained minor injuries and was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested. The driver was identified as Donald Christopher Reese, 27.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation by the Lake Elsinore Traffic Unit.
