Only prime members allowed to vote in Canyon Lake POA Board of Directors election

The Canyon Lake POA five-member board of directors are collectively responsible for the management and operation of the POA’s business affairs. The board directors are elected by at-large for staggered two-year terms. The terms are staggered with three directors in odd years and two directors in even years.

Three of the five board seats are up for election in May. Jeanne O’Dell, Chris Papavero, Renee Griffiths, Jeff Bill, Rita Bendlin, Alex Cook, and Joe Kamashian have announced their candidacy. For links to their candidate statements, click here.

Only prime members are allowed to vote in the election. No prime member will be denied a ballot for any reason other than not being a member. In households that include a husband and a wife, the prime member is issued in the name of the husband unless otherwise directed. Prime members have one vote per unit/lot/parcel owned.

Ballots will be mailed to members on Monday, April 3. Civil code requires ballots to be sent out at least 30 days prior to the meeting date, which is May 11. The POA utilizes a secret ballot process, using a double envelope system.

The Annual Meeting of the Members and Election of Directors will be held on Thursday, May 11, at 8 a.m. in the Holiday Bay Room at the lodge. The meeting will be called to order and polls will close at approximately 9 a.m.

One-third of the voting power is needed to meet quorum. If a quorum is not met on May 11, the meeting will be adjourned and an alternate meeting will be held on May 13, resulting in an additional cost to the POA.
