Gene Brown, an original member of the Canyon Lake Men’s Golf Club, passed away on February 20, 2024, at the age of 97.

The Men’s Golf Club saw Brown serve as its seventh president in 1977. In March 2021, the club honored Brown with a lifetime membership, recognizing his dedicated service as a member and past president. As a past president, Brown remained a member of the Canyon Lake Association of Past Presidents (CLAPPS) until his passing.

Brown and his wife, Clara, purchased a lot in Canyon Lake in 1969, one year after the Corona Land Company saw the potential for development in Canyon Lake and started selling lots in 1968.

For most of his business career, Brown resided in Long Beach, California, where he owned a material damage appraisal company. The Browns built their home on Sea Horse Circle in Canyon Lake in the 70s, eventually transitioning to Canyon Lake full-time in the 80s.

Brown will be long remembered for his contributions to the development of the golf course and will be missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him throughout the years.
