Pedestrian killed in Lake Elsinore crash

A pedestrian was killed on September 4, following a major vehicle collision in the City of Lake Elsinore. The crash occurred around 11 a.m. in the area of Via De La Valle and Plaza Valenza.

Deputies from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station arrived to find an unresponsive victim on the ground with severe injuries. Life-saving measures were initiated by deputies and continued by paramedics, but the victim was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the preliminary investigation determined that a vehicle was traveling southbound on Via De La Valle when it collided with the rear of a parked vehicle and struck a pedestrian. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. It is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the collision, authorities said.

Via De La Valle was temporarily closed while investigators processed the scene and collected evidence.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
