The Canyon Lake POA Board of Directors on Tuesday approved a 28-day reading to revise rule GR.2.14b No Aggressive Dogs.
The POA felt that the current rule for an aggressive dog is not well defined. The revised rule provides a clear definition of an aggressive dog and increases the fine/penalty to protect the membership should a dog become aggressive.
The Rules Committee researched definitions of nearby counties, Animal Friends of the Valley, and California Civil Code (Davis-Stirling Act) and recommended that the board revise the rule as follows:
Aggressive dogs are not allowed. An aggressive dog is defined as: any dog that when unprovoked inflicts bites or attacks a human being or domestic animal or in a vicious or terrorizing manner approaches any person in the CLPOA common areas; or any dog with a known propensity, tendency, or disposition to attack unprovoked, to cause injury or to otherwise endanger the safety of human beings or domestic animals.
In addition, the board approved raising the fine from $200 to $300.
