The County of Riverside revised its orders yesterday, amending an April 2 order that closed private and public golf courses in Riverside County. The revised order allows county golf courses to reopen with some restrictions.
The Canyon Lake POA is preparing to reopen the golf course; however, before an opening day can be set, the city will need to revise its emergency order. The city requested the POA to close its golf course, pickleball courts, tennis courts, and playground equipment on March 24.
The POA will also need to implement the Park and Play Program upon reopening. The measures in the program align with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s social distancing and sanitation practices and have been reviewed and approved by a physician at the Infectious Diseases Society of America.
Golfers will find that there are a few different rules when the golf course reopens. Players will be required to wear face coverings, observe social distancing with six feet of separation, and limit play to foursomes.
The POA said in a statement yesterday that some of the Park and Play Program requirements have already been implemented and that it is conceivable that the golf course could be open again in the very near future.
