Police seize 198 cannabis plants, ghost gun from Menifee residence

The California Department of Cannabis Control with the assistance of the Menifee Police Department on Wednesday seized 198 marijuana plants found in two makeshift greenhouses at a residence in the Quail Valley community of Menifee. An unserialized AR-15-type rifle with a high-capacity magazine was also discovered at the residence, the Menifee Police Department said.

The suspect, 61-year-old Macario Estevez, was arrested for unlawful possession of an undetectable firearm, possession of a high-capacity magazine, and unlawful possession of an assault weapon. His bail was set at $10,000. The California Department of Cannabis Control’s investigation into the marijuana cultivation remains ongoing.

Commercial marijuana activities, including sales, cooperatives, dispensaries, cultivation, and deliveries, are prohibited in the City of Menifee.
