As a heartfelt tribute to the men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, the Quilters of Canyon Lake group will present handmade patriotic quilts to five Canyon Lake veterans during this year’s Fiesta Day. The presentation will take place on Saturday, May 24, at 1 p.m. at the lodge.
The honorees, Dave Nickel, U.S. Air Force; Johnny Juarez, U.S. Marine Corps; Sharon Curcio, U.S. Army Reserves; Dennis Franks, U.S. Air Force; and Joe Sloan, U.S. Navy, will each receive a patriotic quilt crafted with care and gratitude by the members of the Quilters of Canyon Lake group.
Residents attending Fiesta Day are invited to gather at the lodge to witness this special moment and show support to these veterans who have served the nation.
The mission of the Canyon Lake Quilters group is to honor and thank local veterans and active-duty service members for their service by gifting them with handcrafted patriotic quilts. These quilts serve as a tangible expression of appreciation and respect from the community.
The quilts are presented throughout the year. The recipients are chosen by nominations and through free raffles during major community events. To nominate a veteran or active duty service member to receive a patriotic quilt, contact Ronda McCord at 714-609-0581.
