Railroad Canyon Road Striping Project nearly complete

The new striping on the east and westbound lanes of Railroad Canyon Road is nearly complete. The striping was done in an effort to enhance the visibility of both biking and traffic lines and to make the road safer for commuters of all types when they travel through the City of Canyon Lake. The striping improvements will also assist in helping the right turn lane pockets stand out at Skylink Drive and Big Tee Drive.

The project includes green bike pavement legends throughout the extent of the roadway within city limits. The project was funded by the state’s SB-1 Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Act.

For the fiscal year 2019/2020, the city received $195,545 from the state’s SB-1 Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Act. The city anticipates that it will receive an additional $213,138 for the fiscal year 2020/2021.

In April, the city received three bids for the project. The bids ranged from $105,750 to $120,00. The contract was awarded to Cat Tracking, Inc., for a sum not to exceed $126,900 plus a 20 percent contingency.
