Photo provided by Pat Van Dyke.Twenty-four-year-old Billy Van Dyke has been fishing in Canyon Lake since he was three years old. He recently caught this bass on the main lake, but won’t give away the “secret fishing spot,” one of many he has. He also won’t divulge what type of bait he used, only that he used a seven-foot pole with a spinner reel.
“He used to tell us all of the facts, but now that he’s older, I think he has taken an oath to fish but don’t tell where or how,” said his grandmother Pat Van Dyke. “I do think that everyone needs his own secret fishing spot. I know that Opie did on the Andy Griffith Show.”
Billy fishes nearly every day and releases the fish back into the lake. He also often goes on deep-sea fishing trips.
