A 37-year-old Rancho Cucamonga man was arrested earlier this month by the Riverside County Child Exploitation Team (RCCET) after he drove to a Riverside fast-food restaurant parking lot to meet what he believed was a 13-year-old girl, according to the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office. Instead of being met by the teen, the man was met by RCCET investigators and arrested and booked into jail.

RCCET proactively investigates online and the man in this case reportedly sent an unsolicited message to an investigator who was posing as a 13-year-old girl. Ultimately, the man arranged to meet the teen for sex, officials said.

Investigators determined that the man is a registered sex offender on federal probation.

RCCET, which is led by the DA’s Bureau of Investigation, works in partnership with the following agencies: Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the Beaumont, Blythe, Desert Hot Springs, Menifee, Murrieta, and Riverside police departments, California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation, FBI, the Inland Regional Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking task force, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and U.S. Marshals Service.
