Retail theft crackdown in Lake Elsinore nets five arrests

Five suspects were arrested on Wednesday during a theft suppression operation at a retail store in the 29300 block of Central Avenue in the City of Lake Elsinore.

The Lake Elsinore Station Special Enforcement Team (SET) and Robbery Burglary Suppression Team (RBST) partnered with loss prevention employees within the business to identify multiple individuals concealing items on their persons and exiting the business without paying.

The operation resulted in the arrest of five individuals for theft-related crimes and the recovery of more than $4,000 in stolen merchandise. Deputies also connected one of the suspects to other thefts in the Riverside County area, resulting in aggravated felony theft charges.

The suspects were identified as 37-year-old Anabelle Escobar of Menifee, 41-year-old Joseph Mende of Lake Elsinore, 42-year-old Alfonso Marquez of Fresno, 34-year-old Freddy Santillanes of Fresno, and 45-year-old Nedal Salman of Mead Valley,
