Transportation officials and local dignitaries attended a ribbon-cutting on April 21 to celebrate the completion of the new I-15 Railroad Canyon Road Interchange in Lake Elsinore. The $41 million project started in May 2020 and finished months ahead of schedule.
The project has added new lanes for improved safety and traffic flow, provided a second on-ramp to access northbound I-15, enhanced air quality by reducing idling vehicles, and upgraded pedestrian and cyclist amenities with new sidewalks and bicycle lanes along Railroad Canyon Road.
Local dignitaries who attended Thursday’s ribbon-cutting included Congressman Ken Calvert, Riverside County District 2 Supervisor Karen Spiegel, Lake Elsinore Mayor Tim Sheridan, Lake Elsinore Councilman and Riverside County Transportation Vice Chair Bob Magee, Canyon Lake Mayor Pro Tem Larry Greene, Canyon Lake Councilman Dale Welty, and Lake Elsinore Valley Chamber of Commerce President Kim Cousins.
