Riverside County has activated its department operations center (DOC) as it continues to ramp up the response to the COVID-19 outbreak. The DOC is being operated jointly by Riverside University Health System-Public Health and Riverside County Emergency Management Department.
Officials emphasized that there have been no confirmed locally acquired COVID-19 cases in Riverside County. One Riverside County resident who was a passenger on a cruise ship near Japan recently tested positive for the illness but officials say they are being housed at a medical facility in Northern California and have not been in Riverside County since being diagnosed.
“The establishment of the DOC will allow us to better coordinate our response to the spread of COVID-19 and provide the public with the latest and most accurate information about what we are doing to prepare and the illness itself,” Public Health Director Kim Saruwatari said.
Riverside County has established a coronavirus webpage at www.rivcoph.org/coronavirus. Residents may also call 2-1-1 with questions about COVID-19.
