The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office has amended the charges filed against a man accused of shooting 18-year-old Rylee Goodrich and 19-year-old Anthony Barajas in a Corona movie theater on July 26. Goodrich died at the scene. Barajas was on life support and died five days later.
Suspect Joseph Jimenez, 20, appeared in court today, August 5, for arraignment but the hearing was postponed to September 27 at the request of his defense counsel.
In the amended complaint, Jimenez is now charged with two counts of murder and a special circumstance allegation of multiple murders, making him eligible for the death penalty.
No motive for the shootings is being released at this time and there was no known connection between the victims and Jimenez. “Based on the evidence provided, this appears to be a random and unprovoked attack,” said the DA’s Office.
