Riverside County Library System announces launch of two new mobile resource vans

The Riverside County Library System (RCLS) announced the launch of two new mobile resource vans, named Library Connect.

Starting February 7, the Library Connect mobile resource vans will bring many library and literacy services to rural and remote community members year-round in select areas of the western and desert regions of Riverside County.

Library Connect will offer:

  • Learning Lounge – Just-in-time literacy support services, such as resume, job help, digital skills, and others.
  • Family Literacy Programs – Programs to develop literacy skills as a family, such as weekly educational craft kits, Raising a Reader, and STEAM activities.
  • Adult One-on-One Sessions – One-on-one support to improve reading, writing, listening, speaking, and digital skills.
  • Adult Small Group Sessions – Support to improve reading, writing, listening, speaking, digital, and job skills with others in the community.
  • Library Services – Book checkout/check-in, holds pickup/return, getting a library card, and more.
  • Wi-Fi and Technology Services – Provides Wi-Fi and access to laptops during stops.

The schedule for the western county region is as follows:

Monday

  • 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Country Village Apartments, 10250 Country Club Dr., Mira Loma
  • 2 to 4 p.m. at Youth Opportunity Center, 5656 Mission Blvd., Riverside

Tuesday

  • 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lakeland Village Community Center, 16275 Grand Ave., Lake Elsinore
  • 2 to 4 p.m. at Perris Valley Family Resource Center, 2055 N. Perris Blvd., Perris

Wednesday

  • 2 to 4 p.m. at Deleo Regional Sports Park, 25655 Santiago Canyon Rd., Temescal Valley

Thursday

  • 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Mead Valley Family Resource Center, 21091 Rider St., Perris
  • 2 to 4 p.m. at Youth Opportunity Center, 5656 Mission Blvd., Riverside

Saturday

  • 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Lakeland Village Community Center, 16275 Grand Ave., Lake Elsinore
  • 2 to 4 p.m. at Deleo Regional Sports Park, 25655 Santiago Canyon Rd., Temescal Valley

The times are approximate. Stops may occasionally be delayed or canceled due to weather, vehicle maintenance, or traffic conditions. Library Connect vans will be closed in observance of all County holidays.

“Access to educational opportunities is more important than ever for our underserved communities,” Riverside County Board of Supervisors Chairman Jeff Hewitt said. “It brings me great joy to know we are using our tax dollars to make a difference in the lives of our residents with these mobile services, especially our youth.”
