The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Stars Hockey Club invites the community to its upcoming charity game to benefit Sergeant Emil Stan’s 14-year-old son who is battling leukemia.

The game will be held on Friday, April 12 at Acrisure Arena. Ticket holders will have access to watch the Stars versus the Vipers at 1 p.m. and the Firebirds versus Condors at 7 p.m. A percentage of the ticket proceeds will be donated to the Stan family.

In September 2023, Sergeant Stan’s son, David, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He began treatment at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital and was scheduled for a bone marrow transplant. David’s condition did not improve with treatment and he was unable to obtain a transplant.

David was transferred to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, for a trial treatment that showed promising results for patients with his condition. He is currently undergoing inpatient treatment in Houston with his family by his side.

David’s family and doctors hope the treatment in Houston is successful so David can return to Loma Linda to undergo the bone marrow transplant.
