Riverside County Sheriff’s Department presents public safety update for City of Canyon Lake

On January 10, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department provided a public safety update for the City of Canyon Lake for the months of October, November, and December 2023. The update was presented by Lieutenant Will Edwards.

During the month of October 2023, deputies responded to 364 calls for service. The total calls include deputy-generated calls. Four felony and three misdemeanor arrests were made. Eight Part I crimes were reported: one aggravated assault, one sex crime, three larceny, and three vehicle thefts. Deputies investigated nine traffic collisions, issued five citations, and made three DUI arrests.

In November 2023, deputies responded to 323 calls for service. The total calls include deputy-generated calls. Four felony and three misdemeanor arrests were made. Five Part I crimes were reported: one aggravated assault, one burglary, and three larcenies. Deputies investigated five traffic collisions, issued eight citations, and made two DUI arrests.

During the month of December 2023, deputies responded to 356 calls for service. The total calls include deputy-generated calls. Two felony and four misdemeanor arrests were made. Ten Part I crimes were reported: one aggravated assault, one burglary, six larcenies, and two vehicle thefts. Deputies investigated nine traffic collisions, issued 34 citations, and made four DUI arrests. Twenty-three of the traffic citations and the four DUI arrests were a result of an enforcement operation conducted on December 8.

Police services are provided by the City of Canyon Lake through a contract with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. Residents are reminded to contact the police department, not Canyon Lake Community Patrol, for incidents pertaining to the law. For emergencies, call 911.
