Rush, Evans win Bassmasters first tournament of 2021

Twenty-three anglers in 13 boats participated in the Bassmasters Club’s first tournament of 2021. Sam Rush and Jeremy Evans reeled in first place with a total fish weight of 17.74 lbs.

The team of Jon Kimble and Jim Wright came in second place with a total weight of 17.60. Joe Merrill and Chuck Moreno took third place with a total weight of 17.32 lbs.

The “Big Fish” title went to Joe Merrill, who caught a caught a bass weighing 5.08 lbs.

Each team is limited to five fish. All fish are released back into the lake after being weighed.

Tournaments are held on the first Saturday that follows the monthly meeting. Tournaments are held from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Summer tournaments are held from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Canyon Lakers who like to fish and want to improve their skills in a friendly, competitive environment are invited to join the Bassmasters. For more information about membership, contact Travis Smith at 951-525-7550.
