San Bernardino County Fire is mourning the loss of one of its own. Firefighter Paramedic Ryan Spandrio, 30, died in an off-duty motorcycle accident on Tuesday on Railroad Canyon Road near Church Street in the City of Lake Elsinore.
Spandrio was an active duty member of Fire Station 224 in San Bernardino. He was described as “a true public servant who demonstrated compassion and commitment to the community.” San Bernardino County Fire said Spandrio “served with honor, professionalism, and courage.”
Spandrio sustained fatal injuries in the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the collision, and drugs and alcohol were not deemed to be a factor, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Following the accident, firefighters and law enforcement personnel held an honor procession from the crash site to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office in the City of Perris.
Spandrio was a resident of Lake Elsinore. He leaves behind a wife and two children.
