After receiving five offers, Santa Rosa Academy senior Audrey Garcia signed a full scholarship with Westcliff University to play softball. From a Santa Rosa Ranger to a Westcliff Warrior, Garcia represents the best of Santa Rosa Academy.

According to her parents, Angel and Claudia, Garcia has the heart of a champion. “She is compassionate, driven to make herself better, and an amazing teammate. She wants the best not just for herself but for everyone around her. We are so proud of what she’s accomplished despite the difficult situations this pandemic has placed on her and her recruiting class. This is a testament to her resiliency and commitment to growth. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for her and the impact she will make at Westcliff University as a student-athlete. The future is bright for our future software engineer.”

Gabe Roman has coached Garcia at American Pastime Gold since she was 11 years old. He highlighted Garcia’s huge impact on the team, not only with her skills but also with her determination, work ethic, and great attitude. “Audrey is an ideal utility player with great instinct,” Roman said.

“Her primary position is at the catcher, but she has been able to fill holes in our defense at multiple positions like second base, third base, and shortstop, and has played outfield as well. She is strong defensively, and her bat keeps her in the production part of the lineup. She plays with confidence and has a winning mentality.”
