A Moreno Valley Unified School District employee has been arrested after deputies recovered a large cache of stolen school property, including laptops and hundreds of electronic devices.
On March 19, deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station served a search warrant in the 26000 block of Regency Way in the City of Moreno Valley. During the search, deputies recovered the stolen laptops and additional stolen items that belonged to the school district.
The stolen items included hundreds of different types of electronic devices and thousands of various pieces of equipment and technology, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. The total value of the recovered items was estimated at more than $750,000.
The suspect was identified as Abdul Kamara, a 69-year-old resident of Moreno Valley and employee of the school district.
The investigation began earlier this month when school resource deputies for the Moreno Valley Unified School District began investigating a report of missing laptops from a school site.
Kamara was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for grand theft. His bail has been set at $250,000.
