September 3 is Free Fishing Day, a day anyone can fish without purchasing a fishing license.
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) offers two Free Fishing Days each year, typically around the Fourth of July and Labor Day weekends. Free Fishing Day provides a no-cost way to give fishing a try.
