Six-year-old passenger suffers major injuries in DUI accident

A six-year-old passenger suffered major injuries when the vehicle driven by Salvador Joseph Barns collided with a light pole. Barnes, a 44-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, was placed under arrest and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and causing injury. He was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries and then booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center.

The incident occurred on January 26 at 6:45 on Heacock Street at Ironwood Avenue in Moreno Valley. The roadway was closed with detours for approximately five hours.

Barnes is being held in lieu of $90,000 bail, according to jail records. He is scheduled to appear in court on February 2.
