After more than two decades, Canyon Lake residents Shari and Kent Skidmore bid farewell to their community as they prepare to relocate to Los Gatos, California, to be closer to their son, daughter-in-law, and only grandchild.
The Skidmores relocated from Irvine to Canyon Lake as part-time residents in 2003 before making the community their full-time residence in 2015. “We wanted a place we could ski and golf, and Canyon Lake offered that and more,” Shari said. “The Equestrian was an added benefit for me.”
The Skidmores are members of the Canyon Lake Yacht Club and enjoy the lake life. Through the years, they have played a role in shaping and supporting life in the community.
Shari served as secretary of the Guild for five years, was a member of the Pickleball Club, and was involved with the Equestrian Club and its riding lesson program. Locally, she volunteered at the So Cal Mini Horse Sanctuary in Hemet for seven years.
A member of the Canyon Lake Choraleers for approximately five years, Kent has performed in numerous musical productions and served on the group’s board for three years. He also contributed his time serving as a volunteer associate for the Guild and as a member of the Canyon Lake Property Owners Association’s Finance Committee.
Beyond his community service, Kent stayed active as a member of the Canyon Lake Pickleball Club and playing senior softball three days a week in Menifee and tournament softball with Senior Softball USA. Extending his musical talents beyond the Choraleers, Kent is the lead singer of the local Bullpen Boys Band.
The Skidmores will be moving on December 11. “Canyon Lake is the most unique place of people and activities, and we have forged some wonderful friends that we are going to miss dearly,” Shari said. “Canyon Lake truly is a bit of paradise. Our next chapter will be filled with many experiences through the eyes of our grandson.”
