Smith, Tucker reel in first place in Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club tournament

Twenty-six anglers on 13 boats participate in the Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club monthly tournament on Saturday, March 9, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Experienced anglers Travis Smith and Rich Tucker took the top spot with a total fish weight of 19.97 lbs. Kevin Hugo and Hank Dunbar reeled in second place with 19.16 lbs.

Damon Hole and Cole Crockett rounded out the top three with 17.72 lbs. Hole also landed the biggest fish of the tournament, a bass weighing 5.03 lbs.

All fish are released back into the lake after weigh-in. Some of the anglers return their fish to the location where they caught them.

Canyon Lake residents who enjoy fishing and want to improve their skills in a friendly, competitive environment are invited to join the Bassmasters Club. Monthly fishing tournaments are held from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the first Saturday that follows the first Wednesday.
