A 20-year-old Menifee resident sustained major burns in a single-vehicle crash on Sunday. The crash occurred around midnight at the intersection of McCall Boulevard and Menifee Road.
Upon arrival, officers located a BMW sedan fully engulfed in flames. The driver was removed from the vehicle by a witness and transported to a local hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
According to the Menifee Police Department’s Traffic Unit, preliminary findings indicate the BMW was traveling westbound on McCall Boulevard when it struck the center median, crossed over it, and then hit the south curb before colliding with a tree. The impact caused the vehicle to catch fire. Investigators believe alcohol may have contributed to the collision, along with wet roadway conditions caused by the rain.
This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Officer Harper with the Menifee Police Department’s Traffic Unit at 951-723-1567 or the Traffic Unit at 951-723-1500.
