A man found unconscious in a parking lot in Hemet last week has died from his injuries. A suspect has been arrested in connection with the homicide.
On March 21 at about 2:27 a.m., the Hemet Fire Department responded to the 300 block of E. Florida Avenue after receiving a report of an unconscious male in the parking lot. The victim was transported to a local trauma center for further treatment.
About 90 minutes later, the Hemet Police Department received a call from the hospital stating the male subject sustained major trauma to his head. The Hemet Police Department’s Investigations Bureau assumed the investigation and determined that the victim was assaulted and left unconscious in the parking lot before the call for medical assistance was made.
On March 24, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified Michael Martin as the suspect. On March 25, Martin was arrested and booked for homicide. He is being held in lieu of $1 million bail, according to jail records.
