The Canyon Lake Coed Sunday Softball League wrapped up its 2022 fall season with a championship game on Sunday. The Platinum team took first place, earning the perpetual championship belt and bragging rights.

Platinum beat the 4th seed team Black in an 8 to 7 victory and advanced to the championship game. The Black vs Platinum game was intense and left team Platinum down a girl after catcher and outfielder Rihanna T. went out of the game with a torn muscle. Platinum centerfielder Josh Selley hit a triple in the final inning. Third basemen Lori Smith sealed the victory with a walk-off double to send the team to victory.

The 3rd seed team Teal started off beating team Neon 14 to 3 and then took team Baby Blue with a final score of 14 to 4, advancing to the final game against team Platinum. “

During the final game, Platinum shortstop Brian Campbell hit a solid shot to centerfield for a triple. Gina Pinto went on to advance that final run in and secured the team’s championship win. The final score was 8 to 7 in extra innings.

Platinum player Lori Smith described the game as “a rough doubleheader against two gnarly great teams.” Platinum second basemen Gina Pinto said it was “an awesome game.”

“Team Platinum would like to thank their sponsor, Craig Tomlinson-Realtor, for all the support this season,” Smith said of her team’s sponsor.

In December, the Sunday Softball Coed will be putting together a relatively new All-Star Game with a compilation of players from each team. The league invites residents to come out and support the players.
