Teen, adult killed in Hemet crash

An adult and a teenager were tragically killed on Sunday in a crash in the City of Hemet. The collision occurred shortly after 9 p.m. in the area of State Street and Chambers Street.

Arriving officers located a Toyota sedan and a Kia involved in the accident. The driver of the Kia was unresponsive and pronounced deceased at the scene, according to the Hemet Police Department. Additional passengers inside the Kia were transported to a local hospital, where one of the passengers succumbed to their injuries. The driver of the Toyota was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries.

The Riverside County Coroner identified the victims as 25-year-old Pastel Watterson, the driver of the Kia, and 17-year-old Bailey Watterson, both residents of Redlands.

According to the Hemet Police Department, the preliminary investigation revealed that the silver Toyota was traveling north on State Street and collided with the Kia, which was pulling out of a driveway on State Street.

State Street was closed from Domenigoni Parkway to Chambers Street from approximately 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.

The driver of the Toyota is cooperative with the investigation, and impaired driving is not suspected at this point, according to details released by the Hemet Police Department.
