A teen has been arrested in connection with a freeway shooting that occurred on March 1 at approximately 7:52 a.m. when a road rage incident escalated into a car-to-car shooting between drivers of a white Ford Flex and a white Chevy Silverado on westbound DR-60 east of Perris Boulevard. The Chevy passengers included an adult female and an infant, according to CHP.
CHP investigators obtained the Ford Flex license plate and identify the driver; the information was broadcast to surrounding law enforcement agencies. Fontana Police Department officers located the vehicle that evening. CHP investigators responded, took custody of the suspect and vehicle, and recovered evidence related to the crime, CHP said.
The Ford Flex driver, a 16-year-old Cabazon resident, was arrested and booked into the Riverside Country Juvenile Holding Facility on suspicion of attempted murder, negligent discharge of a firearm, assault with a deadly weapon, and brandishing a firearm, CHP said.
“This investigation is ongoing,” Captain Levi Miller said. “The California Highway Patrol takes aggressive driving and road rage seriously and will actively investigate these incidents. The CHP has highly trained personnel assigned to investigate all crimes occurring on our freeways.”
