Teen’s fentanyl death leads to Canyon Lake arrest

A second arrest has been made in connection with the fentanyl overdose death of a 16-year-old French Valley girl. Jeremiah David Carlton, 18, was arrested in Canyon Lake on Saturday, February 27, and charged with murder.

On Wednesday, February 24, at about 7 p.m., deputies from the Southwest Station responded to a residence in the 35000 block of Sugar Maple Street in French Valley and located an adult male and female juvenile unresponsive due to a suspected fentanyl overdose.

Medical personnel transported both subjects to a local hospital where they received medical attention. The male was revived and the female was pronounced deceased by hospital staff, according to the Riverside Sheriff’s Department.

Information and evidence discovered during the subsequent investigation led investigators to arrest 18-year-old Raymond Tyrrell of French Valley. According to jail records, Tyrrell was arrested for murder on February 25 and booked into the Southwest Detention Center. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 4.
