A 62-year-old Temecula man was taken into custody on Friday on suspicion of multiple sexual assault charges following an investigation involving the alleged assault of a minor.
The investigation started on June 24, when investigators at the Southwest Sheriff’s Station received a report alleging that a minor had been sexually assaulted during a martial arts lesson. Based on the allegations, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Special Victims Unit responded and assumed the investigation.
The suspect was identified as Dzung Mai. Investigators learned that Mai had been teaching martial arts from his residence for the past several years, instructing students ranging in ages five to 19.
On June 26, a search warrant was served in the 31000 block of Iris Way in the City of Temecula, where Mai was taken into custody on suspicion of multiple sexual assault charges.
This investigation is active and ongoing.
