The sun is coming out at Temescal Canyon High School (TCHS) as the TCHS Spotlight Players present their spring musical production of Annie. The remaining show dates are April 24 through April 25 at 7 p.m. at the Jeanie Corral Performing Arts Centre.
This heart-warming tale of hope and resilience features a cast of student performers, a live student orchestra, a member of the Elsinore High School FFA Puppy Raisers / Guide Dogs for the Blind program, and members of the International Thespian Society, Troupe #5796.
Based on the popular comic strip, Annie tells the story of a spunky orphan determined to find her parents, eventually finding a new home with billionaire Oliver Warbucks. The production features iconic songs like “Tomorrow” and “It’s the Hard-Knock Life,” brought to life by the cast and a full pit orchestra.
Madeleine Abell stars in the title role of Annie, supported by Aiden Aviles as the billionaire Oliver Warbucks and Caleigh Hutcheson as Grace Farrell. The comedic and villainous trio features Brieana Bautista as Miss Hannigan, Adrian Smyth-Tynes as Rooster, and Ireland Wonacott as Lily St. Regis.
The orphanage is rounded out by a spirited group, including Emma Gutierrez (Molly), Vivian Blanding (Pepper), and Sarah De Anda Luna (Duffy). In a rotating performance, the role of President Franklin D. Roosevelt is played by Tanner Gray and Tom Collins. The cast is also joined by a special four-legged performer, Honeydew Svidergol, in the role of Sandy.
The production showcases the talent within the TCHS performing arts department, featuring a live 20-piece student orchestra, conducted by Band Director Kenny Taber, that provides the soaring musical backdrop for the evening. Many performers are also members of the International Thespian Society, representing the highest standard of high school theatre excellence.
Tickets are currently available for purchase online through the Temescal Canyon High School GoFan site. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students. To avoid long lines at the box office, patrons are encouraged to purchase their tickets online.
