Text to 911 service is now available in Riverside County when calling for emergency help is not an option, announced the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
This service is not meant to replace normal 911 services, but rather to be utilized by those who are hearing/voice impaired or unable to speak due to a dangerous situation or medical emergency.
This service is available in English only, translation services are not available at this time, and based on wireless coverage areas and availability.
To use this service, simply enter 911 in the “to” field of your message, provide your location and the nature of your emergency, and respond to any questions the dispatcher sends. Do not send pictures or videos, use emojis, acronyms, abbreviations, or send in a group message.
