Thirteen of Menifee Union School District (MUSD) schools have been officially recognized by California PBIS for exceptional implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) during the 2025–26 school year.
The MUSD schools earned recognition at the Gold, Silver, and Bronze levels, placing them among 2,700 schools recognized statewide.
The recognition highlights MUSD’s multi-year initiative to strengthen school culture and improve social, emotional, and behavioral outcomes for all students.
The recognized MUSD schools include:

“This recognition highlights the incredible trajectory as we have implemented PBIS” MUSD Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Root said. “Building a positive school culture doesn’t happen by accident; it requires sustained intentionality, continuous reflection, and a shared commitment from every staff member. Seeing our schools move up in implementation levels proves that our collective efforts are creating environments where students truly feel safe, valued, and ready to learn.”
PBIS is a proven program that helps schools build welcoming, supportive environments. Instead of only reacting to misbehavior, schools teach and celebrate positive behaviors every day. To earn statewide recognition, schools must prove that these positive habits are practiced consistently across their entire campus.
At Bell Mountain Middle School, one of MUSD’s two Gold-level awardees, staff have focused on embedding clear behavioral expectations and restorative practices into daily campus routines.
“Achieving Gold status speaks to the dedication of our educators, support staff, and students who show up every day ready to lift each other up,” Bell Mountain Middle School Principal Dr. Patrice Harris said. “We have seen a tangible shift in our campus climate. Our students take ownership of being a Bobcat, showing Bobcat C.A.R.E. (Character, Accountability, Respect, and Effort). They thrive in the school environment, and this honor reflects the strong, respectful community we’ve built together.”
The 13 recognized MUSD schools will be featured on the California PBIS website and celebrated during the 11th Annual California PBIS Conference in October in Sacramento.
