Three local bands will be entertaining the crowd at Canyon Lake’s inaugural Cancer Fair on Saturday, May 14, at Holiday Harbor Park.
Code 415 will take the stage at the park’s lakeside amphitheater at 11 a.m. and perform until 12:45 p.m. Code 415 is made up of four Canyon Lake residents who play classic rock, blues, and country. Singer Aprile DeAnne has opened for such national acts as Berlin and Canned Heat.
Making their first appearance in Canyon Lake, the 11-member Murrieta Valley High School Crimson Jazz band will be performing from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Led by Brad Pulverenti, Crimson Jazz specializes in a variety of contemporary music styles, including funk, swing, blues, Latin, and jazz ballads.
Nineties alternative rock cover band Steel Canyon will wrap up the event from 5 to 7 p.m. Steel Canyon plays rock, grunge, and alternative music.
The Cancer Fair will kick off at 10 a.m. with a 1.2-mile community Cancer Walk, starting and ending at Holiday Harbor Park. A water station will be located at the corner of Canyon Lake Drive South and Sparkle Drive.
The vendor section will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and feature cancer-related resources and prevention information and a section for kids featuring crafts and face painting.
Author and cancer survivor Jami Ness will be speaking and signing books at 3:15 p.m., followed by the national anthem and invocation at 4 p.m.
Food, beer, and wine will be available for purchase.
The Cancer Fair is supported by the Canyon Lake Veterans and First Responders Group, Mermaids of Canyon Lake Club, Jr. Women’s Club, Family Matters Club, Michelle’s Place, Cancer Fighter, Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Kiwanis Club of Temecula Valley, Canyon Lake POA, and the City of Canyon Lake.
